A Swiss-based international commodity trading company has a large portfolio of physical commodity positions. In order to keep risk under control, traders and senior management need to be notified when a logistical disruption occurs during the transportation of the commodity.

Complication The company invested heavily in acquiring big data related to its assets from different providers but struggled to extract and to translate relevant information into a user-friendly platform and into an actionable system of knowledge.
