Situation
A Swiss-based capital management firm has several portfolios which in turn have thousands of securities each. Their dynamic portfolio allocation is subject to frequent re-balancing.

Complication Senior management would like to have a quick and easy way to visualize the whole portfolio and the ability to drill down to one single investment in a sub-portfolio. With about 10,000 single investments, this was not possible given the firm's existing system.

Solution We put together a playful representation of the portfolio, resembling a flower, where the nodes represent fund indices, and leaves represents investments. When the manager hovers the mouse over the flower, it displays the corresponding investment information. When they click on a node, 100 single investments collapse to form one node freeing up space to focus on other investments.
